- Your equipment setup (Equipment, Accessory and Food)
- A bit of luck
MINING EQUIPMENT SETUP
Mining Equipment: Upgradable tools that influence your ability to extract minerals. Equipment is designed for specific activities (i.e. Prospecting, Advanced Exploration, Open Pit Mining etc.).
Accessories: Upgradable tools that supplement the effectiveness of your equipment. Accessories boost the effectiveness of your Equipment Setup for all mining activities.
Foods: In real life, eating a particular food will not help you to find Copper, Gold, or Diamonds. In Waaniike, the food you consume, combined with your location, determines what potential discoveries you will encounter. Some special items can ONLY be found with a specific food equipped.
MINING EQUIPMENT STATS
Mining Equipment and Accessories each have statistics that determine whether you are able to extract an encountered discovery from the ground. These include…
BASE POWER: Indicates how strong your equipment is.
POWER BONUS: The combined power bonus of your Equipment and Accessory increases the overall strength of your setup.
DETECTION BONUS: Increases your chance of noticing a mineral you encounter. If you don’t detect something, you won’t be able to extract it.
LUCK: Increases your chance of extracting detected minerals, particularly those that your equipment is not strong enough to easily extract.
EFFICIENCY: A more efficient equipment setup is likely to result in the consumption of less energy (food).
AFFINITY: Indicates the purpose for which the equipment is intended. You can use any piece of equipment in any location, but it will likely be considerably more effective when used for the purpose for which it was designed.
Additional Equipment Setup Notes:
If you are consistently failing to extract anything, it may be because…
- Your Mining Equipment Setup is not strong enough to extract the mineral(s) you are encountering. To address this, try upgrading your equipment, or searching in a different location.
- You have a food equipped that is ineffective for finding whatever minerals are present in your current location. Some areas require special foods to reveal their hidden secrets!
- You are just being unlucky.
- The developers of the game dislike you personally.
PROGRESSING
To progress more quickly, try identifying new areas to unlock on the map (see the “Travel” tab). The requirements to unlock these areas are listed under the “TRAVEL HERE” button on the map.
For hints specific to a location, such as what special items may be found there, or what food you’ll need to be successful there, check out the area description text in the bottom left corner of the game.
MEEGWETCH
Clicking “Meegwetch” on the main interface gives thanks to Mother Earth for what you have found. This results in the game automatically playing each hour for the next twelve hours… helping you progress when you are not even playing!
CRAFTING
As the game unfolds, you will need to craft special items to assist in your mining activities. For example, some special discoveries will only be made with a particular food equipped. Some of these foods are only available by crafting them.
To craft an item (for which you have the necessary ingredients)
-Click the “CRAFTING” tab.
-Select the item you wish to craft.
-Enter how many of the item you want to craft.
-Press the “CRAFT” button to create the item(s).
Additional Crafting Notes:
The “CRAFT” button will be unavailable if you do not have all the necessary ingredients.
The numbers on the “Craftable Items” images represent how many of the item you have in your inventory, and how many are created with a single crafting action.
The numbers on the “Items Required”, images represent how many of the item you have, and how many would be consumed by the crafting action.
